Three Mile Island Camp is an AMC full-service camp located three miles down the lake from the northern end of Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire. Built on a 43-acre island in 1900, "campers" enjoy a relaxed and simple life that has changed little since the camp's founding. It is a place where several generations of families and newcomers alike come to swim, fish, kayak, canoe, and sail in New Hampshire's largest lake. Many enjoy hiking in the nearby White, Ossippee, and Bald Peak mountain ranges. And all relax with friends and family, with three delicious meals provided (special dietary needs are accommodated) for stays of either one or two weeks in
the summer and four weekends in the fall.
Situated on an island of 43 rocky woodland acres, this shorefront camp offers
families a delightful recreational experience in the heart of New Hampshire's
lake district. Exploration of the woods, swimming, boating, and conservation
programs are just a sampling of the pleasures this island getaway offers.
- 47 cabins with 2 single beds (some with adjoining platform tents)
- kerosene lamps, linens (summer season only)
- main house (electricity and running water) with reading and game rooms, fireplace, wood stove
- three substantial meals per day served family style at the main house
- recreation hall
- retreat cabin with fireplace
- outhouses and "sun" showers
- waterfront with canoes, kayaks and sailboats
Two-person, 16-foot cabins with front porches are spaced around the island shoreline, with individual docks and excellent views of the surrounding lake and mountains. A central lodge, where campers dine family style, has a card room and grand living room. The Retreat, with a fireplace, offers the quiet reader a place to go. Horseshoe pits as well as tennis and volleyball courts are on the island. A large central dock and raft complex, along with a recreation hall, is where many congregate for swimming, reading, or talking with friends. Privies are located within a short distance of common areas and cabins.

Fall weekends represent a fantastic way to introduce folks to the magic of
Three Mile Island. Many summer campers like to return for a much needed
second dose. The atmosphere is relaxed, and the weather is often superb.
"Veteran Croo" members who staff the weekends are a little older, but they are
thrilled to be back on TMI and they bring high levels of enthusiasm. The
weekends are "quasi full service." The only real differences in the fall are
that the lake is less crowded, the island is only open to 60 campers, you
carry your own baggage, and you bring your own bedding and towels. It is a
great way to take the sting out of the end of another summer.
Each weekend includes three meals on Saturday, breakfast and lunch on
Sunday, as well as canoe and sailboat use. Of course, there is an extra day
included for the Labor Day weekend. Bring sleeping bags, pillow cases,
towels, and flashlights. Children under 4 years of age and pets are
not permitted.

Clothing: should be informal and planned for outdoor living. Comfortable shoes for rocky path walking, warm clothes for cool weather, and rain clothes are necessities. More than one bathing suit is desirable for the frequent swimmer.
Light: There is electricity at the Change House, Main House and Retreat. The cabins are equipped with kerosene lanterns. Each camper should bring along at least one reliable flashlight for night travel. Gas lanterns are brought by some campers to supplement flashlights or kerosene lanterns in the cabins. Batteries are available at the camp store.
Toiletries: There are solar showers provided at each cabin. Use of biodegradable soap for washing and shampooing is encouraged. Bath towels are provided, but many prefer to also bring their own beach towels for the dock. Sunscreen and insect repellent is available at the camp store.
Games and books are available in the Main Lodge, but many campers bring their own. Parents should consider having some materials to entertain children on rainy days.

Directions to Shep Brown's Boat Basin
Directions to the A.M.C. parking lot
The A.M.C. Three Mile Island Camp launch, the "Appy V", picks up and drops off passengers at the Public Boat
landing at Shep Brown's in Meredith, NH. During the summer season, there are scheduled launch times at 9:00, 12:00, 2:00 (Sat only), and 5:00. Launch passengers should have reservations on the island or have made previous arrangements with the
Summer Manager or Off-Season Manager.
In recent summers, the public parking lot at Shep Brown's has been very crowded, particularly on weekends.
In an effort to provide enough parking space for TMI campers and staff, and to free up space in the main lot
for our neighbors on Bear and Pine Islands, the A.M.C. has leased 25 reserved spaces in a locked and fenced lot from Shep Brown's.
The lot has been leased for the summer season and Labor Day Weekend. There should be enough space in the main lot for the Fall weekends (except Labor Day). If you have any questions, feel free to ask the Launch driver.
Consider checking for open spots in our leased lot
before parking in the main public lot. It's only about a three-minute walk to
the dock. Handicapped accessible parking continues to be available in the main
lot right in front of the public dock.
As you drive down the approach road into the Shep Brown's area, our parking lot is behind a chain link fence just before the
first boat shed on the right. (The 2002 croo placed a "sandwich board" sign in front of the AMC lot)
The lot is just beyond (closer to the water than) the Meredith municipal parking lot.
If the gate is locked upon your arrival, ask the Launch Driver for the combination.
At popular launch times, such as mid-day on Saturdays, a TMI representative may be at the dock with parking lot information.
Hope to see you soon!

As a long-standing Three Mile Island Camp tradition, we have asked campers
not to use electronic devices such as cell phones, computers, portable radios and
televisions. Campers come to the island to find a timeless, peaceful simplicity
and a closeness to nature, and they enjoy the benefits of communicating
face-to-face.
However, if you need to get a message quickly to someone on the island, please call the
answering machine on the mainland at 603-279-7626. The machine is checked daily
for messages.
