With over 240 islands on this 26-mile- long lake, there is plenty to do lakeside. Canoes, kayaks, sunfish, and sailing boats may be rented for a nominal fee. Often campers bring their own boats. Some never want to leave the island and choose instead to take walks around the many island paths.

    Island Educator

Three Mile has an Island Educator on staff to coordinate adult and children's naturalist programs, to provide information about activities, and to help campers intensify their own interests and experiences in the special natural setting. For Summer 2007, the Island Educator is Kai Bicknell. Please feel free to contact her with questions or ideas for activities that will enhance your family's experience at Three Mile.

We are looking for donations to enhance the education program. For details, see the news page.

    Volunteer to Run a Program!

While many come for rest and retreat, others are eager to share their knowledge or skills with fellow campers. Organize a book discussion? watercolor workshop? yoga session? Give an evening talk? With Nature as a subject, the sky's the limit. Contact the Island Educator, Kai Bicknell, to try out your idea.

    Excursions

There are many hour- to day-long canoe trips around the lake—only limited by the skill and imagination of the canoeist. Popular destinations include the Beaver Islands, Blueberry Island with a wide, sandy beach, Five Mile Island, and Stonedam Island, a natural preserve owned by the Lakes Region Conservation Trust.

    Conservation

Three Mile Island is committed to conservation. For more information on current issues and AMC's conservation actions, click here.

    Online Boating Safety Class

New Hampshire Online Boating Safety Class and Boater Exam

A boater safety course is now available online. Authorized by the New Hampshire Department of Safety, the course is a primer for new boaters and an excellent refresher for experienced boaters. Taking this course is one way to begin earning a Safe Boater Education Certificate, required for anyone who operates a "ski craft" or a boat with an engine of more than 25 horsepower.

There is no charge to take the course, but there is a nominal charge to receive formal certification of successful completion.
